Are your customers finding your website? (and if not, what to do about it)

by | Jun 7, 2017

Having a website is all very well and good, but what do you do after that?

You have a website. Great. Ticked that box on the Digital Marketing List.

Now the challenge becomes how to get potential customers to actually find it and use it. Drawing customers in to find out more about the products and services you sell, and ultimately make a purchase.

The next box to tick on your Digital Marketing List is usually SEO. This stands for Search Engine Optimisation, and is essentially the process of tweaking your website and working on the web in general to boost your chances of ranking at the top of Google for keywords that people would type in to find the products/services you sell. Without ranking on Page 1 or Page 2 on Google for your keywords, the chances of people finding your website are very, very slim. I mean, who scrolls beyond Page 2 anymore?

So that's Task Number 1 - Find an amazing SEO expert who can help your site rank in Google.

Next on your tick box list is Social Media. Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest... the list is endless. Used by 85% of the population, it's a must for almost every business, whether you are B2B OR B2C. Many B2B businesses come to us and say 'well businesses aren't really interacting on there'. Okay, well what if I told you that almost every Business Owner and Manager at the company you are trying to target ARE on there, even if it's only in a personal profile capacity? Interesting right? The crucial step here is to evaluate which Social Media platforms will work the best for your individual business. For this we always start with the customer. Who are they, and where do they hang out? We then work backwards from there to develop a Social Media Strategy that will work for your specific target customers, and your specific business objectives.

So that's Task Number 2 - Find a professional Social Media agency that can help you come up with a Social Media Strategy and implement it.

Next we move onto Paid Advertising. Done correctly, this can deliver huge returns for your investment! The main two we advocate are; Facebook Advertising, and Google Adwords. Facebook has phenomenal targeting, you can basically target based on anything from Age and Location, to when their car insurance is about to expire/need renewing, life events, interests... the list is endless. Google Adwords is great for companies with a niche product/service that people will be typing into Google.

So that's Task Number 4 - Use an incredible PPC expert that can create you a perfectly tailored paid advertising campaign.

The fourth way you can bring more traffic to your website is through writing engaging Blog Posts. You can publish these both on your website and LinkedIn profile, and promote them across your various Social Media channels. They're a great way to show off your skills and expertise, announce your perspective on some news or shake-up in the industry, shout about recent testimonials and case study successes, or launch new products/services.

So that's Task Number 5 - Hire an excellent Blog Writer to create content that will wow your clients socks off.
